What are the strengths, and what are the limitations, of visualization in the teaching and learning of mathematics? Are there people for whom it is not an option, who cannot learn mathematics meaningfully in any other way? What aspects of teaching help learners to overcome the limitations and use visualization effectively in the service of mathematical abstraction and generalization? These questions and others will be addressed in this interactive session, in which participants may learn about their own styles and visual preferences.
