We interpret non-critical values of L-functions in terms of a cohomology analogous to the Eichler cohomology setting associated to critical values by Manin. The ``cocycle`` we attach to non-critical values has a structure reminiscent of the non-holomorphic part of a harmonic weak Maass form. We formalize this similarity by incorporating our ``cocycle`` into the context of mock modular forms.
