Design research aims at designing and researching innovative learning environments. The goal therefore is in creating innovative learning environments in order to study them, or to investigate how to bring them about. In this presentation, the focus is on design research on instructional sequences and the corresponding local instruction theories. Design research as a research method will be elucidated with research on an instructional sequence on addition and subtraction up to 100 as an example.
