Abstract
Chemotaxis models are classically associated with pattern formation in form of finite time blow-up solutions. K. Painter and I discovered, that chemotaxis models also allow for complicated spatio-temporal patterns, which show many similarities with chaotic systems. In my talk I will first review some classical chemotaxis models, and then discuss the spatio-temporal dynamics in detail. I will show that the system can have a positive Lyapunov exponent, and I will identify a period-doubling sequence, both strong indicators of chaotic dynamics.
