Banachraum

A short introduction to the (C_0) semigroups of operators on Banach spaces, their generators and the related Cauchy problems will be given. Analytic semigroups will also be introduced. We will focus on the case of the Laplacian operator equipped with Wentzell boundary conditions as generator of an analytic semigroup on a suitable Hilbert space. Results concerning the generation of analytic semigroups by uniformly elliptic operators with Wentzell boundary conditions will be also presented.
